Pleasant Valley Rural Historic District - Structures

Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse Site

This is the location, now eroded away, of the earliest schoolhouse in this area. It is shown clearly on the 1849, 1860 and 1875 maps. It was located between Pleasant Valley Road and Moore's Creek. The course of the creek is now much closer to the road. In 1890 it was replaced by the nearby schoolhouse at the corner of Hunter Road and Pleasant Valley Road.

The schoolhouse on this site educated the children of Pleasant Valley from before 1826 until the 1890 school across Hunter Road was built.
