The large swing beam for Bent D is maneuvered into place at the beginning of assembling this bent.

The rest of timbers for Bent D and then attached and the whole assembly pegged together.

To raise the bent, the ropes attached to Bent C with blocks begin the raise while the crew uses muscle power to get the bent started on its way.

Once the bent is too high to reach by hand, the crew each take a spike tipped pole varying in length from eight to sixteen feet in length to keep the bent moving into its vertical position.

When the bent is up it is tied to Bent C with girts.  The massive size of the swing beam is visible in this photo.
