Hog Slopping & Weighing
2009 Date: June 20

During the annual hog slopping and weighing program, the Howell Farm hogs wade out of their wallows, shuffle down a chute and step onto the scales. The weigh-in is open to the public, which is invited to join farmers as they wash and weigh hogs, slop hogs, and of course, call hogs.

From 10:30am - 3:30pm, kids can help farmers with pig chores: mixing feed, gathring pigweed and filling wallows. Hog weighing will take place at 11:30am, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm. Prizes will be offered to visitors who come closest to guessing the pigs' weights.

Children's craft program: Cinnamon Pig
On a walk-in basis (Groups of eight or more must pre-register)
Time: 11:00am to 3:00pm
Approximate time to complete project: 20 minutes
Materials fee: $2.00
